Silver egg

With the help of a candle, cover the surface of a hard boiled egg with soot. After putting the egg which is black from soot into water it appears to be silver. Water doesn't soak into the greasy surface and all the rays which fall under a suitable angle on the edge of water and air reflect off it. That is the why the egg seems to be as shiny as a mirror.
